Olympia Gaming’s Legend Bay Casino Opens Soon in Sparks

Legends Outlet Shopping Center in Sparks, Nevada is the new location for a Legends Bay Casino.

Construction was held back due to the coronavirus pandemic. Since the restrictions were so severe, Olympia Gaming saw no point in continuing with its plan. Now that Covid-19 restrictions are easing in the state of Nevada, the company’s Chief Marketing and Development Officer, DeCourcy Graham, is ready to give an update on the future project.

However, he said that the company cannot comment on the progress of its new Legends Bay facility until March. He stated that the brand is still committed to establishing the new project regardless the challenging times.

He added: “The Project is an integral component of the Outlets at Legends Shopping Center and will be an exciting addition to the Sparks community. We look forward to breaking ground on the Project.”

Business owners agree that the casino will be an integral part to the way Outlets at Legends functions. Christa Leader, owner of a clothing store at Legends, said that she knew about the project since it was first proposed in 2008.

The scheme took more than ten years of planning. In October last year, Olympia Gaming received an approval to change its original floor plan of the exterior of the Legends Bay Casino.

Leader expressed her opinion on the fact that a casino will reside close to her business. She said: “We already get that kind of traffic from the Peppermilland the Grand Sierra Resort, so having something even closer, it definitely bring more people over.”

More people is what Leader’s business needs right now and it is not the only one. A new casino will bring profit for the town.

Future Openings

Although the year of 2020 was tough for the gambling industry, Legends Bay Casino is not the only ongoing project that is expected to materialize soon. After many delays, Virgin Hotels Las Vegas’ owner announced last week that the facility would be opening its doors in March.

The project started in the spring of 2018 when JC Hospitality purchased Hard Rock Las Vegas. The former facility was transformed into the new Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

The renovation period took eight months and in August last year, the facility was ready to open doors in October or November. However, President and CEO of JC Hospitality Richard “Boz” Bosworth announced that it was impossible due to the coronavirus pandemic, which affected the industry and caused inclement market conditions and construction delays.

The opening date was set for January 2021 but a projection made by the CDC and John Hopkins University about Covid-19’s next spike caused another delay.

Bosworth is hoping there won’t be any delays and the facility will finally open its doors in March.
